Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing daily production activities in alignment with operational demands and timelines. This role emphasizes worker safety, adherence to regulations, and the maintenance of food quality and safety standards, while fostering employee engagement. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong sense of urgency to address a variety of priorities, contributing significantly to the success of the team.

Compensation:

Salary Range: 69,700-78,413

Work Schedule:

  • Flexibility with rotational shifts for vacation coverage is required.
  • Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as necessary.
  • Typical work schedule of 40-48 hours per week over 5-6 days.

Key Responsibilities:

The following duties are essential to the role, with additional tasks assigned by the Plant Manager as needed:

  • Oversee and coordinate shift employees to implement core operational processes, ensuring compliance with GMPs, SOPs, supply management, TQM, and LEAN methodologies for optimal product quality and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor production schedules and budgets to ensure timely output.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager to schedule preventative maintenance, enhancing equipment and facility performance.
  • Promote lean practices for continuous improvement and efficiency maximization.
  • Conduct daily transition meetings to review production status and adjust plans to meet targets.
  • Facilitate regular Crew Talks to prioritize safety awareness among team members.

Team Development:

Recruit, mentor, and develop a dedicated workforce to fulfill current and future operational needs by:

  • Partnering with Human Resources and the Plant Manager to implement effective people management systems, including recruitment, training, performance management, and workplace safety.
  • Participating in staff selection, coordinating training, addressing performance issues, and conducting thorough performance evaluations.
  • Ensuring adherence to company personnel policies by all staff.
  • Championing Lean principles and coaching team members in line with organizational training.
  • Collaborating with Lead Hands to enhance team engagement and development, resolving conflicts respectfully and timely.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring equipment reliability and staff training aligns with organizational needs.

Financial Stewardship:

Assist the Plant Manager in optimizing financial resources by:

  • Collaborating on resource planning to minimize waste and maximize asset returns.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial policies and practices.

Operational Coordination:

Support the Plant Manager in effective shift coordination through:

  • Utilizing inter-departmental communication mechanisms to facilitate collaboration across teams.
  • Employing customer-focused problem-solving methods to address inter-departmental challenges.
  • Ensuring accountability for production team members during emergency situations.

Decision-Making Support:

Aid the Plant Manager in fostering quality decision-making by:

  • Ensuring all employees are trained to make informed decisions relevant to their roles.
  • Striving to provide timely and accurate information to support employee decision-making.

Community Representation:

Assist the Plant Manager in building a positive reputation for the company by:

  • Representing the organization’s interests in all internal and external interactions.
  • Upholding the same standards of conduct among all staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a fast-paced environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally in food production.
  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient conflict resolution abilities.
  • Sound business judgment and discretion.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols.
  • Proficient in manufacturing control and scheduling software.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.
  • Consistent attendance is essential.
  • Availability for weekend, evening, and holiday shifts as required.
