Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant to join our esteemed facility. This role is crucial in delivering outstanding patient care in a dynamic environment. Under the guidance of our Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians, you will assist in various medical procedures and contribute to the overall efficiency of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the execution of diverse medical procedures, treatments, and diagnostics across various service lines, including Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency/Critical Care.
- Provide safe and compassionate restraint for animals, ensuring the well-being of patients and staff alike.
- Maintain the comfort of hospitalized patients by ensuring clean and safe environments, including bedding and kennels.
- Responsible for post-procedure clean-up, including the safe disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials, and the cleaning of medical equipment.
- Uphold the cleanliness of the clinic, including routine cleaning of all areas and shared facilities.
- Manage laundry duties effectively, ensuring that all linens and supplies are maintained and replenished as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma; completion of a Post-Secondary Animal Care Program is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a hands-on animal care setting, such as a veterinary clinic or animal shelter.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong client service skills, with a focus on providing friendly and effective patient care.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
