GIS System Architect Job Description

Protak Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced GIS System Architect to lead a new full-time, on-site government project. This is a contract opportunity that requires a strong understanding of GIS systems and architecture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend a kick-off meeting with key stakeholders to collect information and discuss requirement priorities within five days of contract award.
  • Provide operational, technical, and analytical expertise to GIS projects.
  • Create and provide presentations to senior management and other project teams to explain the recommended solution to be deployed in the cloud-based architecture.
  • Provide enterprise GIS architecture advice and recommendations for both systems on-premise and in the GC cloud.
  • Develop project documentation, project specifications, and contribute to implementation planning.
  • Project documentation that describes application solutions.
  • Project specifications and standards.
  • Scripts and templates for application deployment and automation procedures.
Requirements:
  • Fluent/Advanced English language skills (written, spoken, and comprehension).
  • A university degree or college diploma related to geomatics, GIS, geography, or another relevant field.
  • Professional certifications related to geomatics or GIS systems are an asset.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience as a GIS System Architect.
  • Experience as a lead architect on GIS architecture solutions projects.
  • IT project experience, project management, GIS web application design, relational database architecture and design, GIS solutions development (on-premise) and GIS solutions development (in cloud).
  • 10 years of experience within the last 15 years providing architecture services, including designing, implementing, and operational handover for GIS projects.
