Labour Relations Officer- Communications Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Labour Relations Officer- Communications to join our team at the Canadian Association of Labour Media. As a key member of our Communications Team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communications strategies to support our labour relations initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop detailed communications plans to support labour relations initiatives
- Coordinate all aspects of communications plan implementation
- Develop and write a wide range of communications pieces, including newsletter articles, opinion editorials, media releases, and backgrounders
- Research and write speaking notes and speeches for labour relations activities
- Develop messaging and slogans for campaigns and initiatives
- Monitor audience sentiment and make recommendations to manage emerging issues
- Coordinate media relations and liaise with media for labour relations initiatives
- Coordinate and plan communications events, such as media conferences
- Develop and provide member training on communications topics
- Plan and develop internal staff communications
- Develop email plans and content for initiatives
- Assist with the management of the communications toolset, Action Network
- Develop digital petitions, actions, and forms for campaigns and initiatives
- Develop and lead mobile messaging initiatives to support labour relations activities
- Develop social media plans and content
- Track, analyze, and report on key metrics for communications initiatives
- Develop content and designs for a wide range of materials, including share graphics, signs, banners, buttons, pamphlets, and infographics
- Develop and produce video content for labour relations initiatives
- Coordinate photography and videography for labour relations activities
- Coordinate with allied organizations on joint initiatives
- Coordinate with a wide variety of vendors and agencies
- Adhere to brand guidelines in all materials and communications
- Ensure deliverables reflect best practice standards, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
- Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations
- Five years of professional communications experience, particularly in writing for public relations and media relations
- Experience in communications planning and coordination, production of graphic materials and video content, developing content for large social media accounts, and developing and administering email programs
- Familiarity with labour relations, union, or political environment is an asset
- Skill with Adobe Creative Suite and Action Network is considered an asset
- Ability to work in French is considered an asset
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments on strict deadlines
- Highly adaptable, works well independently and with cross-functional teams
