Position Overview: Due to significant growth in student enrollment, the JR Shaw School of Business is expanding its vibrant team and is in search of committed professionals dedicated to shaping the future of business education. We are looking for multiple Continuous Instructors to contribute to our commitment to instructional excellence, student achievement, and program advancement. This role reports to the Program Chair and is considered an academic position.

Course Assignments: Our year-round demand for course assignments will primarily be during the Spring & Fall semesters or Winter & Spring semester, with opportunities available in the following disciplines:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Human Resource Management
  • Management
  • Marketing and Communications

Specific course assignments will be determined based on the successful candidates' expertise. Possible assignments may include foundational courses (such as communications, organizational behavior, economics, mathematics, statistics, and business productivity software) up to advanced courses in specialized areas.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge and skills in a specific field, along with current industry practice. NAIT offers exceptional support for those new to teaching; however, prior experience in education may be beneficial. Instructional excellence is vital to achieving NAIT's mission and fulfilling our commitments to Alberta, industry, students, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver assigned courses utilizing case-based learning, problem-based learning, technology-enhanced learning, and various instructional and assessment strategies.
  • Provide constructive qualitative and quantitative feedback to students on a range of authentic assessments.
  • Motivate students to become leaders in business and the community.
  • Utilize industry expertise to develop and implement curriculum as part of a subject area team.
  • Adhere to NAIT policies, procedures, and academic regulations.
  • Engage in non-teaching professional administrative duties such as course coordination, evaluating transfer credits, and liaising with current and prospective students.
  • Contribute to program and school initiatives, including curriculum review and renewal, participation in meetings or town halls, support for recruitment and marketing events, and fostering a collaborative and respectful team environment.
  • Conduct research and cultivate communities of professional practice.
  • Participate in scholarly activities that involve the intentional creation, integration, and dissemination of knowledge subject to peer review.
  • Collaborate with business and community stakeholders.
  • Promote the program to prospective students and other stakeholders.
  • Support the school by engaging in institutional service as required.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant Doctoral or Master's degree with substantial related industry experience is required. A combination of academic credentials and discipline-specific professional certifications will also be considered.
  • Previous teaching and/or curriculum development experience may be advantageous.

Remuneration: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. The instructor salary grid is $65, $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salaries for new hires typically range between $78, $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience, with room for negotiation. (Classification – Instructor).
