Organizational Overview: Volunteer Manitoba is a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to supporting veterans and first responders facing challenges related to PTSD through the medium of artistic blacksmithing.

Opportunity for Volunteer Leadership

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for Volunteer Manitoba.
  • Oversee the operational activities of the organization, ensuring effective and efficient management.
  • Guide the board in fulfilling governance duties, ensuring adherence to relevant charity regulations.
  • Formulate and execute long-term strategic initiatives to enhance the charity's mission and outreach.
  • Promote a collaborative board culture that values diverse perspectives and contributions.
  • Act as the public face of the organization, engaging with stakeholders, partners, and the community to elevate the charity's visibility and reputation.
  • Collaborate closely with the financial team to maintain the organization’s fiscal health and viability.
  • Participate in fundraising initiatives to secure financial support from various sources.
  • Facilitate meetings to review operational status, future plans, and organizational structure.
  • Ensure a welcoming onboarding process for new board members and volunteers.
  • Work directly with veterans and first responders, providing empathetic support regarding their experiences with PTSD and OSI symptoms.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally within non-profit or charitable sectors.
  • Strong strategic planning capabilities with a focus on long-term development.
  • Familiarity with charity governance and compliance standards.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a knack for enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Experience in financial oversight, including budgeting and resource management.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a volunteer board.
  • Background in fundraising and development, with successful funding acquisition history.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capacity to cultivate and sustain relationships with stakeholders, including donors and community members.
  • Commitment to ethical practices and transparency.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with veterans and first responders, particularly in relation to PTSD and OSI challenges.
  • Training in mental health awareness and mindfulness approaches.
  • Willingness to invest significant time and effort into the role.

Location: Remote volunteering opportunities available.
