Business Development Strategist

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Business Development Strategist to join our growing team in Calgary. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in expanding our client base within the small to mid-sized market segment, focusing on National Enterprise accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Cultivate and manage strong relationships with clients, providing strategic guidance, overseeing financial aspects, and negotiating renewals.
  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance client satisfaction and retention, ensuring long-term partnerships even during organizational transitions.
  • Proactively address client concerns and manage expectations effectively. Analyze their insurance risks and recommend tailored mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with clients to create annual plans that align with their objectives and drive mutual success.
  • Generate new business opportunities through diverse channels, including networking and cold calling. Craft and implement strategic business plans to achieve or exceed revenue targets.
  • Take ownership of the revenue and profitability for assigned client accounts. Identify growth opportunities within existing client portfolios and propose customized solutions.
  • Actively participate in client prospecting and acquisition initiatives. Stay abreast of industry trends and relevant legislation through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for People Corporation, representing our organization with professionalism and integrity.
  • Mentor team members and foster positive relationships with suppliers. Collaborate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders across the organization.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2-5 years of progressive experience in group benefits.
  • Possess a valid LLQP certification or be willing to obtain one.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of the group benefits industry and funding models.
  • Exhibit strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Thrive in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude and collaborative mindset.
  • Be results-driven with excellent problem-solving abilities. Proficient in utilizing multi-channel technologies.
  • Willingness to travel when required. Hold a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Pursue or hold a GBA or CEBS designation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal sales and presentation training.
  • Experience in Challenger Sales or Consultative Selling methodologies.
