Business Strategist Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and revenue generation for Calgary Transit.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, civic partners, and external organizations to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform business decisions and develop recommendations for policy and procedure changes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including City staff, civic partners, and external organizations.
  • Manage revenue contracts and partnership agreements, including negotiation and consultation with stakeholders.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams to develop process improvements, support team building, and undertake data gathering and analysis.
  • Identify and evaluate existing and emerging issues, and develop plans to address them.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and recommendations for the public, departmental teams, business unit leadership, and City Council.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Commerce, Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, Business Management, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in strategic planning, policy development, procurement, contract management, and business analysis.
  • Experience with process improvement initiatives and qualitative and quantitative research and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.
