Nephrology Nurse Specialist

BC Children's Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nephrology Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary care team, you will provide exceptional patient care and education to children and families affected by nephrology disorders.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care for nephrology patients, including peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about disease processes, medication, treatment, and health promotion related to nephrology disorders.
- Act as a primary resource for patients, families, and caregivers, providing information and support regarding test procedures, changes in condition, and medication.
- Participate in the orientation and continuing education of nursing staff and students, preceptoring and role-modeling best practices.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- One (1) year of recent experience in pediatric peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis, with experience in an ambulatory care or community health services environment.
- Pediatric peritoneal dialysis trained.
- Hemodialysis Certified or equivalent experience.
- CPR Training – Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) – Level 1.
