About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Tunnel Ventilation Specialist to join our Transit and Rail Team in Ontario. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing tunnel ventilation systems for transit projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop tunnel ventilation systems, including fire and life safety systems, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Support the design and analysis of tunnel fires and personal safety systems.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for various engineering phases, including design development, construction design, and design reports.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and other stakeholders to discuss project progress and requirements.
  • Assume project management tasks and responsibilities to track and forecast project performance, deliverables, and schedule.
  • Perform design calculations and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Support BIM and design teams in preparing required drawings for projects at different phases.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or higher education.
  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical design, with 3+ years of experience in SES modeling.
Preferred Skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team under minimum supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with ventilation equipment specification, controls, and fire life safety codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with local codes and standards.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of common office software.
