GHD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Mississauga or Markham, ON. As a key member of our global network of engineers, scientists, and environmental specialists, you will play a critical role in delivering complex and rewarding projects that drive change and ensure a sustainable future for our communities and the world we live in.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide geotechnical technical direction on multidisciplinary alternate delivery projects, including design, construction, and project management.
  • Lead medium to large size soil-structure interaction design projects, particularly in underground structures and foundations.
  • Review field and laboratory test results from ground investigations for design purposes, as well as interpretation and preparation of Geotechnical Baseline and/or Interpretive reports.
  • Carry out seismic design of underground structures in accordance with relevant Codes and Standards in Canada and the United States.
  • Site supervision experience for infrastructure and building projects with focus on underground structures such as tunnels and underground stations.
  • Build effective relationships with Team Leaders, Business Group Leaders, Service Line Leaders, and other key people.
  • Provide technical leadership on complex and special geotechnical and geostructural engineering projects throughout our business, including major ongoing and upcoming transportation projects in the Greater Toronto Area.
Requirements:
  • University graduate with degree in geotechnical, geological, or civil (geotechnical/geostructural) engineering.
  • A Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in geotechnical/geostructural engineering field.
  • Experience in major alternate delivery mode infrastructure projects, construction engineering, and complex geostructural design.
  • High level of understanding on geostructural design, including analytical, empirical, and numerical methods, as well as advanced knowledge in soil and rock mechanics and structural elements.
  • Ability to lead and cooperate with a team in various environments, as well as work independently.
  • Proficiency with advanced 2D and 3D static and dynamic soil-structures interaction and geostructural design software.
  • Strong written and oral communication (English) skills.
  • Strong analytical/technical, project management, and report writing skills.
