Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide a full range of general legal services, with a focus on commercial litigation, consumer disputes, and employment law. This is an exciting opportunity for a bright and ambitious lawyer to contribute to our collaborative and dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage active commercial disputes and litigation matters on behalf of Franchise Management Inc.
  • Provide guidance and advice to our Operations Team on legal matters, customer incidents, and industry-related issues.
  • Collaborate with our HR Team to provide expertise on labor and employment matters, as well as jurisdictional employment standards regulations.
  • Develop and enhance processes to automate, streamline, or improve corporate functions.
  • Manage external counsel as needed.
  • Research, analyze, and communicate changes to laws and regulations that may impact our business units.

Requirements

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of New Brunswick or another Canadian jurisdiction.
  • 1-5 years of private practice or in-house experience.
  • Experience with commercial litigation, consumer disputes, or employment law is preferred.
  • Superior organizational skills, including the ability to handle multiple files simultaneously and independently.
  • Strong analytical, written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective client relationships.
  • Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
