Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. This role involves managing a team of maintenance staff, ensuring the effective execution of maintenance work, and providing support to operations groups as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of maintenance staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance strategies, tools, and guidelines to ensure the efficient operation of facilities and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and provide feedback to maintenance staff to ensure high-quality work.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of maintenance activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external providers and industry contacts to ensure access to necessary resources and expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and procedures, and provide training to maintenance staff as needed.

Requirements:

  • Alberta or Interprovincial Red Seal certification in a trade such as Electrician or Instrumentation.
  • Seven years of experience in a related industrialized maintenance setting, with a minimum of two years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience working in a public sector environment with unionized and non-unionized employees is considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

The Maintenance Supervisor will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong organizational and communication skills. The incumbent will be required to work outside in all conditions and may be required to operate a personal or municipal vehicle for business use.
