Position Overview:
The Head of Compensation and Benefits is tasked with the strategic planning, design, execution, and management of the company's compensation initiatives. This role ensures that compensation practices are competitive, fair, and aligned with the organizational objectives. It requires both strategic development and hands-on support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate and implement comprehensive compensation strategies that align with the company's objectives, ensuring competitive and equitable pay structures.
- Design and oversee compensation programs, including salary structures, annual merit increases, bonus plans, and executive compensation packages.
- Administer long and short-term equity programs and executive initiatives that enhance company performance.
- Conduct thorough analysis and benchmarking of compensation data against market standards to maintain competitiveness and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all compensation practices adhere to federal and local laws and regulations.
- Lead job evaluation processes, including job analysis, descriptions, and grading.
- Manage the compensation budget effectively, ensuring the cost-efficient use of resources.
- Integrate compensation programs with performance management systems to establish a strong link between pay and performance.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to ensure employees understand the company's compensation philosophy and programs.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management and HR partners on compensation trends and policy recommendations to support strategic planning.
- Champion robust data collection and analysis processes that support research, market pay equity, and other compensation studies.
- Collaborate with HR and operational leaders to create and revise job descriptions, ensuring accurate reflection of roles and responsibilities for proper compensation alignment.
- Support annual processes such as salary reviews, bonus distributions, and equity compensation, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Prepare detailed compensation reports and presentations for executive leadership, highlighting trends, analyses, and recommendations.
- Lead special compensation projects, including mergers and acquisitions integration, pay equity audits, and the implementation of new compensation technologies.
- Maintain accurate compensation data and ensure integrity within HRIS systems.
- Stay informed about regulatory, market, and practice changes and trends.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- A Master's degree or relevant certification (CCP) is preferred.
- A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in compensation management, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated financial acumen and expertise in data and financial modeling.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize input from multiple sources to develop impactful recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with the ability to prioritize business needs through collaborative partnerships.
- Proven ability to navigate complex information and develop effective recommendations for business decisions.
