Maintenance Person Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Maintenance Person to join our team at Holiday Inn Express Newmarket. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our hotel.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors, as well as cleaning windows and interior walls.
  • Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove debris and dirt from hallways and floors.
  • Empty trash cans and other waste containers, and wash bathrooms and fixtures.
  • Make minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs.
  • Perform safety and security checks, and move heavy furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Coordinate, assign, and review work with other team members.
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a team player attitude.
  • Basic security clearance and a criminal record check.
Work Environment:

This is a permanent, 30-hour per week position with a competitive salary and benefits package. Public transportation is available. The work environment is physically demanding, with repetitive tasks and a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
