Maintenance Person Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Maintenance Person to join our team at Holiday Inn Express Newmarket. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our hotel.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors, as well as emptying trash cans and other waste containers.
  • Operate industrial vacuum cleaners to remove debris and dirt from hallways, floors, and stairs.
  • Wash windows, interior walls, and ceilings to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
  • Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, and contact tradespersons for major repairs.
  • Perform safety and security checks to ensure the well-being of our guests and staff.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
  • Perform other routine maintenance jobs, such as painting and drywall repair.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures to maintain high standards of hygiene.
  • Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas during winter months.
Requirements:
  • High school graduation certificate.
  • Experience in a maintenance or facilities role is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights.
Working Conditions:

This is a physically demanding role that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail. The successful candidate will be required to work a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day.
