We are seeking a highly skilled Horticulture Scientist to lead our research efforts in controlled environments, driving innovation and product development in the horticulture industry.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute sound research protocols to investigate the effects of cultural practices on plant growth, including irrigation, plant spacing, temperature, CO2 enrichment, and more.
- Collaborate with the Genetics & Category teams to provide input to all studies and their execution, ensuring alignment on project goals and effective use of resources.
- Analyze data collected by the cultivation team, identify trends and patterns, and make recommendations for further testing and product development.
- Develop and execute research programs to answer specific questions and commercialize horticultural products or technologies.
- Host facility tours and provide presentations to senior management, study sponsors, sales team, and key customers to demonstrate the effectiveness of the research program.
- Master of Science required, Ph.D. preferred, in a relevant biological science such as horticulture, genetics, floriculture, or soil science.
- Experience in a horticulture-related field, such as controlled environment agriculture (CEA), greenhouse, hydroponics, or ornamental container nursery.
- Cannabis research or experience with a licensed producer is considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of typical practices in controlled environments, hydroponic and soilless culture.
- Demonstrated ability to design and lead research programs to answer specific questions and commercialize horticultural products or technologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to influence direction, enable decisions, and make progress.
