Position Overview
AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant / Regional Operations Manager for our team. This is a Full-time position.
This role is ideally suited for a seasoned civil/environmental engineer or environmental scientist. The successful candidate will play a key role in executing environmental assessments and remediation projects. Responsibilities will span all stages of the remediation process, including evaluation, planning, regulatory compliance, implementation, and project closure. The position may also encompass regional and office management responsibilities for the right individual, overseeing staff and representing AECOM within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide senior-level support for environmental assessment and remediation initiatives in a technical, project management, and/or regulatory capacity.
- Engage in technical writing, including the preparation and review of essential documents.
- Demonstrate safety leadership by participating in field meetings, supervising subcontractors, and adhering to safe work practices while identifying hazards daily.
- Occasionally participate in field activities for oversight and technical inspections.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor field activities, including contract closure and reporting.
- Assess, implement, and maintain remedial options.
- Contribute to the development of Remedial Action Plans and similar documentation.
- Prepare strategic proposals and budgets to support project opportunities.
- Maintain strong client relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
- Communicate regularly with regulators, clients, and other AECOM technical staff/project managers.
- Oversee subcontractor and project partner relationships.
- May supervise the work of other professionals.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (civil, geological, chemical, environmental) or a related scientific field.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the applicable region (or eligible for licensing).
- A minimum of 6 years of experience as an environmental consultant, industry representative, or regulator with expertise in contaminated site assessment, remediation, and waste management.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the Canadian North and on federally regulated project sites.
- Familiarity with land and water boards.
- 10 years of experience in Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation.
- Experience in developing Environmental Site Assessments, Remedial Action Plans, and/or Remedial Design Packages for submission to technical clients and regulators.
- Experience in overseeing remediation projects, including contractor supervision and contract management.
- Ability to create reports that convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Thorough understanding of territorial and federal environmental regulations and specific guidelines.
- Physical capability to conduct fieldwork in remote settings.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment; excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and manage complex issues effectively.
- High level of initiative and enthusiasm.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Additional Information
- Sponsorship for employment authorization is not available for this position.
- Travel may be required within various regions (candidates should be prepared for field assignments).
Compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected salary range is competitive.
