About the Opportunity

The City of St. John's is seeking a qualified Fitness Instructor to lead and instruct patrons in scheduled group exercise classes, including dryland, water fitness, and yoga.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and instruct group exercise classes, promoting a safe and enjoyable experience for participants

• Develop and implement exercise programs that cater to diverse fitness levels and interests

• Maintain a clean and organized exercise environment, adhering to health and safety standards

Requirements

• Fitness Leadership Certification (e.g., YMCA, CALA, WaterArt, CanFit Pro, City of St. John's Aquatic Fitness Instructors Workshop, Yoga Instructor)

• High School Diploma

• Current Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check

• Current CPR Level C

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching fitness programs

• High Five Principles of Healthy Aging

Working Conditions

• Fitness and aquatic conditions may be very hot and humid at times

• Frequently dealing with members of the public

• Flexible hours of work, including evenings and weekends as required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to lift and move equipment as needed
