Job Title: Senior Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technologist to join our Diagnostic Imaging Department at Headwaters Health Care Centre. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing MRI services and technical guidance to staff, ensuring the efficient and safe provision of care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide MRI services in accordance with the standards of practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Evaluate images for diagnostic quality.
  • Assist in ongoing Quality Assurance.
  • Develop and implement MRI-specific policies and procedures.
  • Assist in Quality Control of equipment and computer systems.
  • Maintain competence of practice as required by provincial and federal legislation.
  • Participate in program functions and in-service education.
  • Transport patients as required.
  • Assist the radiologist as necessary.
  • Enter data into Radiology Information System as required.
  • Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures.
  • Practice aseptic technique as necessary.
  • Exercise professional judgment in performance of procedures.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff.
  • Participate in patient safety initiatives and address unsafe conditions and procedures to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
Qualifications:
  • 5 years of full-time recent experience in MRI in a hospital environment with experience in MRI of MSK, Neuro, Body, Breast, and Breast Biopsies required.
  • Experience in working in other Diagnostic Imaging modalities preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Obligations under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Acceptable performance and attendance records.
  • Registered with CMRITO and maintain registry status by obtaining the required continuing education credits yearly.
  • Registered with CAMRT preferred.
  • Courses/Certification in Leadership required.
  • MRSO Certification required.
  • Follows MRI safety regulations and guidelines to minimize risk to other members of the staff and patients and ascertains everyone's safety in the MR environment before entering the magnetic field.
  • Operates, evaluates, and troubleshoots MRI equipment and software issues.
  • Participates in education of students.
  • Able to relate well with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Good Computer skills required, knowledge of Meditech preferred.
  • Good organizational skills and communication skills required.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to assess patient capabilities and limitations and make practice adjustments as necessary.
