Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Director, Cost Optimization to join our Financial Analytics & Planning Team at the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our organization's operational strategy and ensuring that resources are optimally allocated to support business priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Planning and Forecasting: Develop and execute detailed financial plans and forecasts for departments and projects, assessing current practices and recommending process and system improvements to advance our cost methodology.
  • Cost Variance Modeling and Analysis: Lead the development and implementation of cost variance models for the total Fund and departments, enhancing cost category definitions to ensure efficient and accountable management of costs.
  • Management Reporting Oversight: Oversee month-end and quarter-end activities that underpin our cost reporting systems and data warehouse, ensuring data accuracy and timely delivery.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in preparing budget, forecasts, and ex-post cost variance analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of asset management companies or financial institutions with a commercial approach to decision-making.
  • Exemplify CPP Investments' Guiding Principles of integrity, partnership, and high performance.
  • Solid problem-solving skills with experience in automation tools and planning software (e.g., Tableau, Think-cell, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management) to improve the effectiveness of processes.
  • Demonstrate resilience in the face of change and can effectively manage competing demands. Effective delegation and supervision of specific output.
  • Proven track record in managing and mentoring staff.
  • Apply critical thinking to resolve operational or cross-departmental issues and deliver insight and recommendations guided by defined cost objectives.
