ABOUT THE POSITION
The Fort McKay First Nation is in search of a visionary Director of Community Programs and Services to lead our Community Programs and Services Division. This pivotal role will drive the strategic objectives and long-term aspirations of the division, ensuring the effective delivery of community programs across various sectors, including education, health, and senior services.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide dynamic leadership and strategic guidance to enhance the development and management of high-quality community programs and services.
- Assist in the formulation of policies and procedures to guarantee equitable and consistent service delivery to FMFN members.
- Foster a transparent and collaborative relationship with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief and Council, ensuring they are informed of key performance metrics, risks, and necessary recommendations for program enhancements.
- Establish robust decision-making frameworks to facilitate the achievement of FMFN's strategic goals.
- Support directors in effective financial stewardship.
- Oversee the financial health of the division, ensuring sound budget management and financial controls.
- Contribute to the strategic planning processes that enhance the organization’s effectiveness.
- Champion the creation of a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Inspire and motivate FMFN staff, fostering a positive organizational culture.
- Promote interdepartmental collaboration and enhance internal communication across the organization.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree in a relevant field is essential; a master's degree or a related professional designation is advantageous.
- At least fifteen years of comprehensive experience in a related field, with a minimum of ten years in management and leadership roles, focusing on organizational management and community service programming.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with leaders, staff, and external partners.
- Familiarity with applicable processes, service delivery models, and best practices related to the division's functions.
- Proficiency in Cree and/or Dene is a valuable asset.
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check.
- Extensive experience within a First Nations community, demonstrating knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and values.
- A valid class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record are required.
- The successful candidate will be expected to reside in the Fort McMurray area.
