About the Role

Sinai Health is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Microbiology Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures in all areas of microbiology, including serology and molecular diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory procedures in microbiology, serology, and molecular diagnostics
  • Accession patient samples and perform laboratory tests
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
  • Ensure completion of assigned work and prepare accurate reports
  • Participate in educational, safety, and quality improvement programs

Requirements

  • Current General registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
  • Recent experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (within 5 years)
  • Preferred: 1 year recent experience in microbiology, experience in microbiology industry sterility testing, proficiency in Laboratory Information System and MS Office

Skills and Knowledge

  • Thorough knowledge of theory and methodology in microbiology, serology, and molecular diagnostics
  • Effective organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with other staff
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and computer literacy
