Job Summary:
Southeast Child Family Services is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Social Worker to join our team in the Bloodvein City Unit. As a Social Worker, you will play a critical role in providing protection and prevention services to children and families in the designated First Nations community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide case management services to children and families, including conducting investigations, gathering and analyzing information, and implementing appropriate actions.
- Work collaboratively with community resources, team members, and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.
- Participate in crisis situations, using your skills and knowledge to de-escalate conflicts and provide solutions.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community resources, including Indigenous organizations and services.
- Conduct group facilitation, team building, and decision-making activities to support the development of skills and knowledge among team members.
- Manage and maintain accurate and detailed records, including documentation of client interactions, case notes, and reports.
- Travel to designated First Nations communities and rural areas as required to provide services and support to clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Social Work (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of two years' experience in front-line case management with Children-in-Care and families.
- Experience conducting investigations, including gathering and analyzing information to implement appropriate actions.
Requirements:
- Indigenous culture and an understanding of the rural cultural environment.
- Working knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, The Adoption Act, An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth, and families, Indigenous child welfare practices, First Nations history, and colonization.
- Crisis intervention, child protection investigations, assessment of high-risk situations to determine appropriate response times.
- Substance abuse, family violence, child abuse/neglect, grief and loss issues, and community resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including documentation and report writing.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), CFSIS, and IM.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record, Child Abuse Registry, and Prior Contact Check.
