About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Director to lead our programming team and drive the technical vision of our studio. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing technical strategies that align with our artistic and game design goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of various game technologies, including engines and middleware, to inform technical decisions and drive innovation.
- Collaborate with Technical Leads to manage the programming process, identify tasks and time estimates, and ensure the delivery of high-quality games.
- Establish and maintain a productive methodology and solid coding practices, including technical briefs, code reviews, and long-term quality and future code sharing between projects.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks on projects, developing contingency plans with the team to ensure successful project delivery.
- Interface with design and art directors to stay up-to-date on industry trends and adapt quickly to implement key features that enhance our games.
Team Leadership:
- Foster open communication within and across disciplines, promoting a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Exhibit strong leadership, charisma, enthusiasm, and commitment, inspiring and motivating team members to achieve their best.
- Manage the performance of programming team staff, providing guidance and support to direct reports.
- Ensure each Lead Programmer sets clear and challenging objectives for their team members.
Knowledge Sharing:
- Propose solutions to improve project development within the studio, driving innovation and best practices.
- Identify and promote the application of technical best practices, facilitating knowledge sharing and code reuse between projects.
- Encourage and facilitate the sharing of technical knowledge and code between projects, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Requirements:
We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Technical Director with:
At least 5 years of leadership experience in the games industry.At least 7 years of programming experience.Experience with console development is an asset.A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent.A good knowledge of programming languages and software engineering practices.Must have shipped at least one game on console.Minimum of 3 years working with Unity and/or Unreal Engine.Ideally held a technical developer role previously.Exceptional management and communication skills.About Us:
