Within the Credit Portfolio Management Group ("CPM"), the Credit Analyst will operate under the guidance of a Director - Senior Credit Analyst and will be part of a team tasked with overseeing a portfolio consisting of major US corporations as well as subsidiaries of international entities across various sectors. The Credit Analyst will be accountable for conducting thorough credit evaluations, scrutinizing legal documentation, and ongoing portfolio oversight under the mentorship of the Senior Credit Analyst.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drafting high-caliber credit applications and annual assessments of corporate clients to evaluate their creditworthiness, recommending suitable credit limits, terms, and conditions, which includes financial statement analysis (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow), a review of the client's strategic direction, business risks, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Formulating financial forecasts and assessing debt repayment capabilities while ensuring adherence to SGS Credit Policies.
  • Suggesting and revising Obligor Risk Ratings.
  • Overseeing compliance with covenants.
  • Examining all pertinent legal documentation (e.g., credit agreements, Guaranty, ISDA, CSA) and recommending amendments as necessary to align with SGS policies.
  • Collaborating with other CPM teams across the US, Europe, and Asia, as well as business lines, Bankers, legal & compliance, operations, and Risk department.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Robust financial analytical capabilities.
  • Proficiency in evaluating credit terms and conditions, including financial covenants, security, and collateral.
  • Deep understanding of commercial and investment banking products.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team, including engaging with teams situated in different regions (US, India, Europe).
  • Exceptional writing skills, particularly in evaluating and summarizing financial transactions (credit requests, covenant waivers, etc.).
  • Strong grasp of accounting, legal, and regulatory matters governing relevant sectors.
  • Capacity to investigate, research, synthesize data, and draw appropriate conclusions based on observed results.
  • Ability to analyze and assess counterparty risk and financial condition using both quantitative and qualitative data.

TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES

  • Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles.
  • Experience in preparing financial projections under various scenarios.
  • Proficiency in using Word for written analysis and Excel for spreadsheet analysis.
  • Knowledge of capital markets/traded products and committed financing facilities.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE

  • 8-10 years of experience as a credit analyst in a corporate and investment banking environment or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is essential as the individual in this role will need to collaborate regularly with colleagues and partners in the United States.
