POSITION OVERVIEW

The Journeyman – Plumber - Roving is a qualified professional with a valid Certificate of Qualification issued by the relevant provincial authority. This role involves managing facility systems, executing preventative and corrective maintenance, and conducting routine services on mechanical and electrical equipment within the designated facility, adhering to company policies and trade certifications. The Journeyman – Plumber - Roving is also tasked with ensuring compliance with established processes and practices, as well as internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, security, and fire protection standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation & Troubleshooting

  • Assess piping system requirements and determine appropriate pipe sizing.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to meet specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to design plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems in both residential and commercial settings.
  • Create openings in walls or floors to accommodate pipes and fittings.
  • Install, replace, and repair valves, pumps, and other components of the piping system, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Conduct tests on pipes to identify leaks and other issues.

Maintenance

  • Execute work in accordance with established processes and practices.
  • Adhere to all internal and external regulations, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards.
  • Respond to routine and urgent service requests, performing preventative and corrective maintenance at the assigned facility.
  • Conduct regular monitoring and inspection of facility plumbing systems, ensuring uptime and safety objectives are achieved, and maintaining asset integrity.
  • Follow health and safety protocols and comply with building codes.
  • Assist in implementing a preventative maintenance program, ensuring deficiencies are documented and escalated appropriately.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all assigned tools and equipment, arranging for repairs and replacements as necessary.

Client Relations

  • Provide insights regarding facility and plumbing conditions, offering recommendations for improvements and repairs.
  • Participate in and support facility-related projects.

Administrative Duties

  • Assist with facility-related projects as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and legislative policies, procedures, and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
  • Maintain all assigned tools and arrange for necessary repairs and replacements.
  • Submit all expenditures promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • College Diploma/Certification is mandatory.
  • Proven experience as a licensed Plumber is essential.
  • Strong adherence to processes and practices related to facility operations and maintenance.
  • Proficient troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of fire, life safety, and building codes, with the ability to research and apply relevant standards.
  • A strong commitment to environmental, health, and safety practices.
  • Excellent client-service orientation with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective communication skills for data exchange and clarification.
  • Mentoring capabilities to support the development of junior technicians.
  • Willingness to work shifts and be available for on-call and emergency situations.
  • Must be prepared to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements.
  • Valid driver's license is required.

Licenses and Professional Accreditation - Required

  • A valid Journeyman level Plumbing license issued by the relevant provincial authority is required.

Additional Assets:

  • Progress towards Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1 certification.
  • Facilities Technician Certification from an accredited institution.
  • Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) certification.
