POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Consultant to join our dynamic team in a permanent full-time capacity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee Civil Engineering initiatives; developing, managing, and producing engineering designs, assessments, and documentation for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
  2. Facilitate and assist in the creation of necessary documents for approvals, prepare development and construction cost assessments, tender documents, and contracts, while collaborating with team members to meet schedules, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
  3. Evaluate the feasibility of pursuing proposals by engaging team members and selecting appropriate proposal writers.
  4. Offer non-technical guidance and support to team members.
  5. Identify and implement process enhancements with the broader team to boost efficiency and productivity.
  6. Manage client relationships and projects to ensure that client expectations and project performance objectives are met.
  7. Cultivate new business opportunities and establish strategic partnerships with key clients, agencies, and collaborators.
  8. Provide construction contract administration for significant projects.
  9. Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  10. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective group operations.
  11. Complete necessary safety documentation for each project and ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  12. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate team members, contributing expertise to conceptual design, detailed design, and construction administration tasks.
  13. Participate in weekly and monthly reporting and design meetings.
  14. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  15. Occasional travel may be required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution with at least 12 years of relevant Canadian experience.
  2. Must be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
  3. Proficient in designing all municipal civil infrastructure, including but not limited to sites, roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and grading.
  4. Demonstrated success in leading project teams of engineers and technologists.
  5. Strong technical writing capabilities for reports and proposals.
  6. Excellent project management skills; preference given to candidates with PMP certification.
  7. Strong contract administration skills; preference given to candidates with MMCD CCA certification.
  8. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines, and exhibit exceptional organizational skills.
  9. Strong work ethic with a commitment to achieving success for the firm, the client, and the team.
  10. Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to a vehicle.
  11. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  12. Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills along with exceptional time management abilities.
  13. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  14. Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Familiarity with software packages for roads, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
  2. Experience in preparing stormwater management plans, master drainage plans, site stormwater management plans, and watershed plans.
  3. Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, piping systems, and pumping systems.
  4. Understanding of environmental permitting, legislation, and regulations.
  5. Familiarity with relevant professional practice guidelines.
