Senior Civil Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our team in Parksville, BC on a permanent full-time basis. The successful candidate will lead civil engineering projects, creating, managing, and preparing engineering designs, studies, and reports for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead civil engineering projects, including creating, managing, and preparing engineering designs, studies, and reports.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
  • Provide non-technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Manage client relationships and projects to ensure client expectations and project performance goals are being met.
  • Provide construction contract administration for high-value or importance projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Complete the required safety forms for each project and ensure that safety policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship of junior and intermediate members of the team.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a BSc degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • At least 12 years of relevant, Canadian work experience.
  • Ability to design all municipal civil infrastructure, including but not limited to sites, roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and grading.
  • Proven success leading project teams of engineers and technologists.
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and proposals.
  • Excellent Project Management skills, preference given to those with PMP certification.
  • Excellent Contract Administration skills, preference given to those with MMCD CCA certification.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of computer software packages for roads, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
