The Construction Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the Foreman with various responsibilities related to workforce management and equipment oversight, as well as making daily production decisions. This position involves guiding the daily operations of equipment operators, laborers, subcontractors, and service personnel, with the ability to perform any necessary tasks manually.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the pre-planning of tasks for the crew.
  • Providing training and mentorship to enhance safety and improve task performance.
  • Ensuring the protection of employees, contractors, clients, the public, and the environment from potential hazards.
  • Guaranteeing compliance with the company's safety program and all relevant Government Acts and Regulations by all personnel on site. Safety responsibilities will encompass:
  • Promoting and maintaining a culture that prioritizes safety, health, and cleanliness.
  • Conducting end-of-shift and weekly site inspections as necessary.
  • Assisting with inspections of equipment, tools, and vehicles, and maintaining records as required.
  • Evaluating and mitigating site hazards.
  • Ensuring tools and equipment are safe for operation, inspected, and maintained according to manufacturer specifications. Training workers in the safe use of tools and equipment is essential.
  • Ensuring all personnel wear appropriate PPE on site.
  • Providing first aid when necessary.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work site, equipment, and tools.
  • Upholding quality of workmanship, production standards, and team morale.
  • Making independent decisions to address and resolve issues and to coordinate work effectively.
  • Providing clear directions and instructions to workers.
  • Collaborating closely with the Site Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Instructing employees on work methods and performance expectations.
  • Suspending any activities deemed unsafe or in violation of established policies and procedures.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by Management, including operating machinery or laboring tasks.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Experience in Foundation Piling, Drilling, or CFA is essential.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Valid Driver's License, SiteReadyBC, Ground Disturbance Level 2, First Aid, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven construction experience in Foundation Piling.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge of ground stability principles.
  • Familiarity with rigging and hoisting techniques.
  • Understanding of load securement and trailer operations.
  • Knowledge of ground disturbance, trenching/excavation, and utility management.
  • Experience operating machinery with a strong understanding of its capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Comprehension of construction methods related to Foundation Piling.
  • Understanding of work sequencing and effective project scheduling.
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to respond quickly to challenges.
  • Proactive in planning and addressing issues promptly.
