Course-Based Laboratory Instructor

Job Summary:

The Department of Chemistry at Brandon University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Course-Based Laboratory Instructor to teach various laboratory courses in the Fall and Winter terms. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality laboratory instruction, preparing laboratory materials, and ensuring student safety.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality laboratory instruction to students in various courses, including Organic Chemistry I, Organic Chemistry II, Introductory Biochemistry, and Intermediary Metabolism and Human Metabolic Disorders.
  • Prepare all laboratory materials, including consumables, samples, solutions, and equipment, to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Supervise laboratory markers and coordinate with course instructors to ensure overall laboratory assessment.
  • Develop and implement laboratory experiments, including recrystallization, distillation, separation of acidic, basic, and neutral compounds, thin layer chromatography, and stereochemistry.
  • Provide guidance and support to students in the laboratory setting.
Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a Master's degree in the subject area or a BSc with relevant experience. Strong teaching, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is required.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position is $6901 per 3 credit hour course. The successful candidate will also receive a comprehensive benefits package.
