Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse (RN):
- Define, uphold, and interpret nursing standards of practice.
- Execute essential nursing skills (assessment, intervention) in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
- Engage in interdisciplinary committees that shape policies impacting nursing practices.
- Adhere to facility protocols for resident admissions and transfers, ensuring accurate documentation as per guidelines.
- Conduct rounds in resident rooms, ensuring that L.P.N.'s, C.N.A.'s, and other staff receive necessary reports and have scheduled assignments and breaks.
- Support L.P.N. in creating routines that promote high-quality nursing care.
- Facilitate effective communication by exchanging reports with outgoing and incoming shifts, including the counting of controlled substances.
- Coordinate and prepare MDS schedules for assessments, including quarterly, annual, and significant changes.
- Complete MDS Booklet as per established timelines (Nursing Sections).
- Review and approve all completed MDS and RAP Summary documentation.
- Develop individualized care plans that reflect an understanding of resident-specific health care needs.
- Make necessary updates and revisions to care plans as required.
- Ensure the implementation of care plans, demonstrating familiarity with prioritization based on anticipated outcomes.
- Monitor the quality of care provided to residents in the assigned unit.
- Communicate the philosophy and objectives of nursing services to residents, families, and other stakeholders.
- Identify educational needs of residents and families based on discharge care plans and provide appropriate instruction.
- Exhibit strong coordination and collaboration skills with residents, families, and the comprehensive healthcare team.
- Oversee the administration and accurate documentation of medications.
- Investigate and address any medication errors promptly.
- Notify physicians of significant observations, incidents, and abnormal lab results as necessary, ensuring timely documentation.
- Transcribe physician orders promptly and ensure proper implementation.
- Report all incidents involving residents, visitors, and staff, ensuring thorough investigation and documentation.
- Accept constructive feedback and supervision as needed.
- Practice in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and relevant regulatory standards.
- Maintain adequate stock levels of medications, medical supplies, and equipment at all times.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for directing nursing shifts.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator.
Qualifications and Requirements for Registered Nurse (RN):
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- M.S./B.S. or equivalent experience preferred.
- Demonstrated nursing experience with clinical competence and strong leadership abilities.
- Understanding and appreciation of the aging process.
- Ability to work independently in delegated areas of responsibility.
Must be a Canadian citizen
Compensation: Up to $45 per hour
