POSITION TITLE: Aquatic Fitness Coach
HOURS: Mornings, afternoons, evenings from 5:00am to 10:00pm
DAYS: Sunday to Saturday – Classes run 7 days a week
START DATE: Immediately
OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking qualified, professional, and knowledgeable fitness professionals to lead Aquatic Fitness sessions at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre and the Matsqui Recreation Center. The primary goal is to deliver an exceptional experience for all participants, enhancing their physical and mental well-being.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of the Fitness Supervisor team, the Aquatic Fitness Coach is accountable for designing and implementing fitness classes within their area of expertise. The main priority is ensuring the safety and inclusivity of all participants. The city provides a variety of pre-structured and popular drop-in and pre-registered classes that promote health and activity among community members. Classes are conducted in classrooms as well as the weight room.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver supervision and instruction to patrons in the fitness centers in a professional manner. Prepare a comprehensive lesson plan for each class. Adapt teaching methods to suit the diverse population of the class. Instruct patrons on the proper use of equipment, review safety protocols, and ensure a secure environment in the classroom. Enforce the established rules of conduct set forth by the City for fitness facilities. Administer first aid as necessary and complete the required documentation. Monitor and report any equipment requiring maintenance to the supervisory team. Provide exemplary customer service. Maintain a clean and inviting atmosphere for the diverse community of Abbotsford. Engage in regular and effective communication with the Fitness Supervisor team. Track attendance of participants.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Current BCRPA or Equivalent Aqua Fitness Certification. CFES is accepted as well as BCAK standing either student or practicing. Current Standard First Aid, CPR 'C' & AED certification with the ability to perform first aid tasks when necessary. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in anatomy and physiology relevant to the role. Understanding of the standard of care and working within one's scope of practice. Familiarity with fitness equipment and its application for basic fitness needs. Capacity to maintain respectful and professional relationships with patrons and colleagues. Proficient in effective communication with the supervisory team. Competence in preparing documents and communications. Proficient in using email and computer scheduling programs. Ability to follow and execute oral and written communication in English.These term contract opportunities require a satisfactory criminal record check. The applicant will be required to undergo a criminal record check in order to work in this position and must report to their supervisor if any criminal charges are laid against them that may be related to their employment in this position.
The hourly rate of pay for the Aqua Fitness Coach starts at $30.78.
