Job Title: MSW or Mental Health Counsellor

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MSW or Mental Health Counsellor to join our team at Brightshores. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for implementing and monitoring services to meet the needs of individuals with significant mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor services to meet the needs of individuals with significant mental health needs
  • Work cooperatively with multiple service providers and function independently as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Provide high-quality assessment and brief counselling using short-term solution-focused and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy therapeutic models
  • Participate in the education of staff, students, and the larger community

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Social Work and membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or Master's degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or a related health or Social Science field and current registration in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience working with individuals with significant mental health needs
  • Up-to-date training and certification in relevant areas
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Recovery Principles
  • Excellent assessment and treatment skills utilizing modalities of individual and group therapies
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and familiarity with DSM-V
  • Training and experience in Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Single Session Therapy, Group therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to work all shifts
  • Analytical and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle and respect confidential information with tact and diplomacy
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting and adhere to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours and LEAD Competencies
