At Alberta Health Services, we are committed to providing exceptional Supportive Care Services for individuals impacted by cancer. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals is focused on enhancing the quality of life for patients from the moment of diagnosis through treatment and beyond. As part of our Psychosocial Services team, you will be stationed at the Arthur Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, where you will play a vital role in delivering clinical care through assessment, treatment, and consultation for patients facing complex medical challenges related to cancer.
Role Responsibilities:
In the position of Psychologist II, you will engage in advanced clinical practices, which include psychological assessments, diagnoses, and interventions. You will also provide consultation and educational support to both the interprofessional team and patients/families. This role requires you to lead and coordinate clinical efforts within your designated program area.
Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Delivering specialized psychological interventions in individual, couples/family, and group settings.
- Utilizing both in-person and virtual health technologies to ensure accessible services for cancer patients across Southern Alberta.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary health team to address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families.
- Contributing to the development, evaluation, and research of local and provincial psychosocial oncology programs.
- Providing clinical supervision to trainees and other team members as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Psychology from a recognized Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) accredited program. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) is required or must be attainable.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have:
- A minimum of three years of experience providing psychological services to adults.
- Experience in supporting patients diagnosed with various cancers, including but not limited to breast, lung, gynecological, neurological, and hematological cancers.
- Experience in trauma intervention and palliative care-focused interventions.
- A background in conducting research within a clinical health environment.
- Experience in providing clinical supervision to advanced trainees.
