About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Programmer to join our Gameplay Development team at Epic Games. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development of projects and initiatives, ensuring both technical excellence and a positive player experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of projects or initiatives, prioritizing both technical excellence and a positive player experience.
  • Guide, mentor, and help build a high-performing programming team.
  • Collaborate closely with art and design teams to create engaging gameplay features, while providing architectural and algorithmic leadership.
  • Work with the Unreal Engine team to contribute to the ongoing development of features.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot issues that may arise in existing systems.
  • Participate in the development and production of all project elements.
  • Write robust and efficient code.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a team lead in a programming role, with demonstrated ability to effectively manage a team.
  • Extensive experience in developing games or other interactive real-time applications.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in C++ and a deep understanding of game systems, mechanics, and tools.
  • Ability to empathize with users and balance the inherent trade-offs in development.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, including the ability to provide constructive feedback and respond to it.
  • A motivated candidate with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Creativity in problem-solving and ability to think beyond established solutions.
