THE OPPORTUNITY
The Property Finance team at Venterra is experiencing substantial growth in its mandate and its capacity to create value throughout the organization. This team is uniquely positioned to collaborate closely with Asset Management, Operations, Investor Relations, Technology, Acquisitions, and Senior Leadership to enhance critical business processes and provide actionable financial insights that generate significant value for Venterra.
We seek an independent self-starter who places a high value on accountability and ownership of their work. The ideal candidate is passionate about problem-solving and adept at navigating ambiguous requirements to deliver value in new situations.
A key aspect of this role is the ability to demonstrate value as a business partner who provides exceptional customer service; this position necessitates the capability to collaborate across functions to fulfill deliverables and drive change.
This role will report to the Finance Manager - Modelling and Financial Analytics, who will consistently challenge the candidate to lead change, identify opportunities for value addition, and assume increasing levels of responsibility. As part of the Property Finance team, the candidate will have a peer group to collaborate with and be challenged by regularly, working closely as a team to support Venterra's ambitious growth strategy. Our expectation is that the Senior Financial Analyst will advance into more senior roles within Venterra, and our performance-driven culture will facilitate their career progression.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate new revenue-generating and cost-saving initiatives, collaborating with multiple functions to refine ambiguous requirements and enhance Venterra's competitive positioning in the market.
- Develop comprehensive financial models based on business needs, focusing on automated data refresh and result validation.
- Utilize SQL to explore and analyze financial data, delivering actionable insights; collaborate with the business to mitigate risks and seize identified opportunities.
- Identify process inefficiencies and spearhead continuous improvement projects to optimize business performance.
- Review quarterly property cash flow and working capital to recommend investor dividend distributions.
- Engage in a variety of high-impact initiatives, projects, and ad-hoc requests.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Working towards or completed CPA or CFA designation.
- A minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in financial modeling and analysis; industry experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling required, including the ability to extract and interpret large datasets, clean data using SQL/Excel formulas, summarize data into concise actionable insights, and create user toggles for sensitivity analysis.
- Experience with SQL is considered a strong asset.
- A team-first mentality, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership over work.
- Comfortable leading through ambiguity and working independently to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to convey complex ideas in clear and digestible formats.
- Attention to detail and the discipline to implement automated QA tests to ensure the accuracy of deliverables.
- A natural curiosity and passion for delving into details, acquiring new skills, and enhancing processes.
