The AECOM cultural resources division is currently in search of a Cultural Resource Specialist to join our office team, focusing on report generation and laboratory assistance within the cultural resources sector. This role involves collaborating closely with project managers and requires a commitment to professional growth and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts standard scientific tasks utilizing established techniques and methodologies.
- Identifies issues arising from standardized procedures due to sample conditions or equipment challenges.
- Participates in specific project phases under the guidance of senior scientists.
- Recommends suitable analytical techniques and provides consulting services based on scientific expertise.
- Draws insights and formulates recommendations based on analytical findings.
- Records and interprets data, performing analyses and comparing results with relevant studies and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Operates under general supervision.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Cultural Resources, Heritage Studies, Anthropology, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in archaeological laboratory work or report writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Ontario MCM's Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists.
- Proven ability to manage logistics for multiple field teams.
- Experience in tracking field efforts, including data collection and management.
- Ability to oversee projects from proposal to report completion, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
- Basic understanding of the heritage planning process, including identifying built heritage or cultural landscapes.
- Additional field experience in conducting archaeological excavations.
- Possession of a valid Research or Professional class license issued by the Ontario MCM.
- Strong research and writing capabilities.
- Commitment to promoting a robust health and safety culture.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
- Willingness to acquire necessary laboratory skills under management's guidance.
