Cook Grill Specialist

Main Purpose and Function

The City of Vancouver is seeking a skilled Cook Grill Worker to join our team at one of our three professional City Golf Courses. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Operations Team Lead, the successful candidate will engage in the preparation of a variety of a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, including banquet and buffet functions.

Key Responsibilities

The Cook Grill Worker will be responsible for preparing light meals and short orders from an established menu, working in a team environment to adhere to the principles of proper food handling, preparation, and storage. The successful candidate will also be responsible for plating and presenting food to specifications, cooking for a varying number of guests during peak and non-peak times, and maintaining a clean kitchen.

Requirements

  • High school education preferred
  • Valid Food Safe Certification is required
  • Valid Serving it Right certification is a strong asset
  • Experience with preparing and cooking a la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals
  • Experience cooking for banquet or buffet events
  • Experience working in a similar unionized Food and Beverage team environment is desired

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of days and shifts, including evenings and weekends. This is an Auxiliary (casual) position until October 2024.
