Job Summary:

The Building Materials Handler will be responsible for loading, unloading, and moving products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have a strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Loading and unloading products and materials from trucks and storage areas
  • Moving products and materials by hand or with basic material handling equipment
  • Operating a variety of equipment to load, unload, and move materials and products
  • Picking orders and stocking shelves
  • Packing and unpacking goods
  • Organizing and maintaining inventory
  • Operating computerized inventory record keeping and re-ordering systems
  • Estimating or quoting prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates
  • Providing advice about merchandise
  • Greeting customers and discussing type, quality, and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase, rental, or lease
  • Preparing merchandise for purchase, rental, or lease
  • Maintaining sales records for inventory control
  • Assisting in the display of merchandise
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
