Position Summary

The Financial Operations Analyst serves as the primary resource for all fiscal and accounting requirements associated with the project. This role collaborates closely with both project and district-level leadership, delivering reliable insights into financial performance. Key responsibilities include assessing project expenditures, generating data reports and analyses for management, overseeing budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring adherence to internal controls. This position may transition into a project controller role, encompassing similar duties as outlined below but focused directly on a specific project.

District Overview

The Eastern Canada District manages a diverse portfolio of projects, including infrastructure development such as highways, bridges, mass transit systems, and energy facilities like hydroelectric power plants and wind farms. Our operations cater to the construction and mining sectors throughout Eastern Canada.

Work Location

This role will primarily operate from our Laval office, with occasional travel to various project sites anticipated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leverage historical and current data to validate forecasts, adhering to company standards for financial reporting.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn the intricacies of the business to enhance the understanding and communication of financial reports.
  • Assist the Operations team in decision-making by identifying, quantifying, and conveying financial risks and opportunities.
  • Oversee employee performance by clearly defining roles, expectations, and goals, while providing constructive feedback during performance evaluations.
  • Implement and uphold robust internal controls, serving as the primary contact for any internal or external financial audits.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the organization, advocating for positive change.
  • Build trust and credibility with the Operations team to foster better collaboration and communication within the organization.
  • Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, demonstrating a readiness to assist with a positive demeanor and appreciation for support received.
  • Proficiency in English (both written and verbal) is advantageous, as mobility across provinces in Canada may be necessary. Language training can be provided if needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business administration, accounting, general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and taxation.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with SAP software is highly preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
  • A solid work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • High standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Willingness to travel and/or relocate as business needs dictate (up to 50%).
