Role Type: Full Time

Travel Requirements: This role necessitates occasional travel throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Job Overview

Purpose Statement

This role is integral to the rejuvenation of medium to high voltage underground power cables utilizing Southwire's proprietary technologies and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize TDR waveform and RF locating equipment for cable testing and analysis of cable paths, splice locations, and neutral corrosion.
  • Set up and operate cable injection equipment on various sizes of de-energized cable apparatuses.
  • Conduct air flow tests.
  • Implement Southwire's patented rejuvenation techniques in compliance with NRIs.
  • Perform data entry, job planning, hazard avoidance, and coordinate injection and excavation activities.
  • Promote and enhance a culture of zero incident safety practices.
  • Maintain rolling stock and equipment.
  • Select appropriate injection adapters and cable accessories.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment as necessary.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate degree preferred.

Additional Preferred Skills, Licenses, & Certificates:

  • Commercial Driver's License.
  • Ability to interpret circuit maps, strong mechanical aptitude, and basic construction skills.
  • Valid passport and ability to travel to Canada and the United States.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable DMV record.
  • Intermediate computer skills with basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, internet/web).

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to travel regularly.
  • Able to lift, push, pull, and carry at least 75 lbs. over a distance of 300 ft.
  • Capable of standing, kneeling, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Must fit into a confined space rescue harness.
  • Conduct digging operations as required.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Regular exposure to seasonal elements.
  • Conditions may vary based on assignment.
