Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified Teacher - Long Term Occasional (LTO) - FSL Prep to join our team at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching French as a Second Language (FSL) to students in the Primary, Junior, and Intermediate Divisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach FSL to students in the Primary, Junior, and Intermediate Divisions
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices

Requirements:

  • Basic qualifications to teach in the Primary, Junior, and Intermediate Divisions
  • French as a Second Language Part 1
  • Sound knowledge of the programs and teaching experience in the listed divisions
  • Repertoire of current instructional and assessment strategies
  • Proficient fluency in French as a Second Language
  • Knowledge and experience in utilizing student learning management systems
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Understanding of the Ontario Catholic Curriculum and effective strategies to teach Literacy and Numeracy
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing balanced literacy and the use of student data to drive instruction
  • Understanding and experience in implementing the CEFR approach into FSL instruction
  • Commitment to supporting the use of technology in instruction and learning, and to promoting an environment of innovation and creativity that engages the 21st century learner
  • Proven ability to implement effective classroom management strategies
  • Commitment to being an active participant in the school's professional learning team to promote student achievement
  • Willingness to actively assume extra-curricular duties
