Opportunity for a Pediatrician in Comox Valley

The Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) has an immediate opportunity for a Pediatrician to join the Department of Pediatrics at the North Island Comox Valley Hospital in the oceanfront community of Comox.

About the Hospital

The North Island Comox Valley Hospital is a beautiful facility that serves a population of approximately 66,000 people and is a referral center for some surgical specialties. In addition to Pediatrics, there are a broad range of consultants including Internal Medicine, Intensive Care, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Urology, Psychiatry, Otolaryngology, Radiology, and Family Medicine.

About the Role

The successful candidate will share call (1:4) and will have the opportunity to work in a teaching hospital with an academic affiliation with the University of British Columbia (UBC) postgraduate programs. We have a Family Practice Residency Program and are involved in both medical student and residency teaching.

Located in the north central region of Vancouver Island, the seaside Town of Comox, along with the neighbouring communities of Courtenay and Cumberland, comprises one of the fastest growing areas on the island. The Comox Valley is home to Vancouver Island's pre-eminent ski resort of Mt. Washington and is the gateway to Strathcona Park and the Desolation Sound group of Islands.

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidy agreement including:

  • Fee Premium - 6.93%
  • Annual Flat Fee - $6,000
  • Recruitment Incentive - $10,000
  • Relocation Costs - up to a maximum of $15,000
  • Rural CME: Years 3 & 4 - $5,000/annum; after 4 years: $10,000/annum
