The Corporate Controller at Management Advisory Practitioners Inc. is a vital leader responsible for managing the financial and accounting operations at both the corporate and client-practice levels, with a keen emphasis on clinical functions. In this crucial role, the Corporate Controller will collaborate closely with the heads of HR and Operations to ensure the smooth integration of financial processes and to support the growth and advancement of clinic operations. This position holds significant strategic decision-making authority and works in partnership with senior leadership across operations, HR, and strategy to realize the organization's vision.

JOB OVERVIEW

We are in search of a driven, hands-on, and analytical Corporate Controller to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in accounting or finance, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably within the healthcare sector or a related field.

As the Corporate Controller, you will oversee the accounting functions for both our corporate and client-practice teams, while also serving as a strategic member of the senior leadership team. This role encompasses full accountability for all financial and accounting aspects of our operations. By partnering with clinic operation teams, you will provide financial leadership and support to achieve the individual missions of our clinics while optimizing accounting processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offer financial guidance and support to Practice Managers to enhance clinical operations.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team on acquiring new clients, assessing their financial health, identifying process gaps, and streamlining workflows to achieve outstanding results.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial analyses to support decision-making, uncover cost-saving opportunities, and drive improvements in financial performance.
  • Lead a talented accounting and finance team, including staff accountants, business analysts, and billing specialists, in managing budgeting, financial projections, accounts receivable/payable, and bookkeeping for multiple entities.
  • Work closely with HR and corporate staff to oversee payroll and benefits administration.
  • Assist the head of Operations in managing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support the CEO with strategic operational management as required.
  • Utilize key performance indicators at each clinic and at a consolidated level to gain insights into results and identify critical levers for improvement. Provide financial recommendations based on key data for both the clinics and Management Advisory Practitioners Inc.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop an aggressive multi-year growth strategy that includes new acquisitions and identifies new business segments.
  • Evaluate existing processes, procedures, and systems to pinpoint areas for enhancement in financial operations.
  • Provide training and support to finance teams to ensure successful implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with clients' public accounting firms to deliver year-end statements and offer input on tax strategies as part of the accounting advisory team.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong proficiency in accounting principles and practices, with a solid understanding of accounting software.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
  • Competence in other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detail-oriented and reliable, with a strong ability to identify and address minor issues before they escalate.
  • Excellent organizational skills and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Able to thrive in fast-paced environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This is a full-time position.
  • The Corporate Controller will primarily work at the corporate office but may need to visit various client-practices as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting or finance.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Experience in finance/accounting within the healthcare sector is highly valued.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, with a specialization in accounting.
  • Possession of a professional accounting designation is advantageous but not mandatory.
