Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surface Mining Operations Manager to join our team at the Ekati Mine site. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient production of our surface mining operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of mining professionals to achieve production targets and ensure a safe working environment;
- Develop and implement effective safety, health, and environment management practices to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Collaborate with technical services and mobile maintenance teams to execute the mining plan and maintenance schedule;
- Manage departmental budgets and costs to ensure optimal resource allocation and minimize waste;
- Contribute to the development of the mining plan and ensure its effective implementation;
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge;
- Ensure company policies and standard operating procedures are followed;
- Work closely with the WENCO fleet monitoring and data collection system to optimize mining operations.
- Minimum 5 years of open pit mining experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role;
- Open pit shift boss certification and surface mine rescue certification;
- Valid first-aid ticket and excellent leadership and communication skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment and develop positive working relationships;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions and drive results.
