The Opportunity:

Yukon Energy is seeking a skilled Electrical Protection Specialist to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon. As a key member of our Electrical Maintenance team, you will provide technical, design, and project management services for electrical protection and control projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design and implementation of electrical protection and control systems
  • Provide technical support for electrical maintenance and repair activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safe and efficient electrical system operation
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and records
  • Perform journey-level electrician work, including new equipment installations and asset rebuilding

Requirements:

  • Two-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
  • Journeyman Electrician or Power System Electrician certification (asset)
  • Proven project management experience
  • Minimum three years experience testing and maintaining protective relays
  • Proficient in Windows-based computer applications and electrical design software
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and interpret electrical and electronic equipment diagrams
  • Experience with high voltage test equipment
  • Demonstrated commitment to preventive/predictive maintenance programs
  • Strong client service orientation and interpersonal skills
  • Valid class-5 driver's license and First Aid certificate
