Position: Parent-Tot Program Leader

Type: Casual Contract – 1-3 hours per week – weekdays, evenings, and/or weekends

Compensation: Independent contractor honorarium paid at a rate of $19.50/hr.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to enhance their leadership capabilities, program development skills, and coaching experience. It is particularly suitable for students aspiring to careers in recreation, education, or kinesiology, or for those who have a passion for soccer and enjoy working with young children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare soccer program equipment before participant arrival.
  • Manage daily attendance and verify that all participants are registered.
  • Design or implement suggested age-appropriate soccer sessions for a five-week program.
  • Lead engaging and enjoyable soccer activities for children aged 2-4 years, ensuring parental involvement.
  • Adapt sessions weekly to maintain excitement and engagement.
  • Assess the effectiveness of each session and identify areas for improvement.
  • Regularly report on timesheets and program attendance.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Outgoing, personable, and energetic demeanor; capable of inspiring enthusiasm in young children and their parents.
  • Observant and responsive to the needs and enjoyment of the group.
  • Flexibility to adapt program delivery for varying skill levels and engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience playing soccer and a genuine enjoyment of the game.
  • Prior experience in coaching or working with children.
  • Current First Aid, AED, and CPR C certifications.
  • Completion of mandatory coaching certifications/training prior to the start date, including:
    • NCCP Active Start – Online Classroom Module
    • NCCP Active Start – Practical On-Field Module
    • CSA NCCP Coaching Soccer in Canada Online Module
    • Respect in Sport – Free online course
    • NCCP Understanding the Rule of Two – Free online course
    • NCCP Emergency Action Plan – Free online course
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector, with expenses reimbursed upon hiring.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a vehicle for transporting soccer equipment.
  • Availability to provide scheduling preferences for program sessions.
  • Ability to commence work as required.
