Description - Automotive service technicians are responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing the mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems of various vehicles, including cars, buses, and light to heavy-duty trucks. These professionals are typically employed by automotive dealerships, repair shops, fleet maintenance organizations, and other service facilities.

Key Responsibilities -
  • Examine work orders and collaborate with supervisors to understand job requirements.
  • Conduct operational inspections and road tests on vehicles, utilizing computerized diagnostic tools to identify issues.
  • Repair or replace components of automotive systems, such as fuel systems, brakes, and electrical systems, using specialized tools.
  • Ensure repaired systems meet manufacturer performance standards through thorough testing and adjustments.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes and tune-ups.
  • Provide customers with insights on repairs completed, vehicle condition, and future maintenance needs.
  • Inspect mechanical systems like engines and transmissions to detect faults.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to decide on repairs or replacements based on diagnostic findings.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to execute repairs on mechanical units.
  • Document problems encountered and repairs performed in detailed reports.
  • Adjust and repair components of commercial vehicle systems, including chassis and braking systems.
  • Overhaul truck-trailer systems, focusing on structural and electrical components.

Qualifications -
  • Demonstrated experience as an automotive technician, with a minimum of 7200 hours of hands-on work.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic methodologies and tools.
  • Proficient in handling various automotive tools and heavy machinery.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents and manage hazardous materials.
  • Strong physical fitness and stamina.
  • A high school diploma is preferred; vocational training or apprenticeship completion is advantageous.
  • Possession of valid mechanic certification and licensing.
