Position Overview. We are currently looking for a full-time, permanent Asset Integrity Inspector to join our Maintenance & Engineering Department. Reporting directly to the Chief Inspector, the Asset Integrity Inspector will take charge of various responsibilities while supporting all aspects of Mercer’s Integrity Management System. This role offers significant potential for advancement within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Adhere to Mercer's Vision and Values, supporting the Mission Zero initiative, with safety as the top priority. Conduct quality assurance and quality control activities for equipment repairs and installations, including the creation and completion of inspection and testing plans. Identify all static asset records to prepare detailed work scopes for inspection activities. Gather process safety information that aids in developing inspection work scopes. Initiate and manage inspection work orders and repairs, including estimating required time, resources, and costs. Develop work packages and inspection plans that specify the type, quantity, and acceptable outcomes of inspections and tests for equipment. Coordinate pre-outage and outage activities to ensure necessary inspections are performed. Oversee, supervise, and provide technical guidance during inspection activities. Assess damage mechanisms and determine appropriate inspection and non-destructive examination methods for detection. Assist the department in completing and approving pressure equipment repair and alteration plans. Manage SRV servicing, monitor and inspect SRV installations, and maintain control documentation. Ensure all inspection and non-destructive examination activities for the construction and installation of pressure equipment are completed and documented in accordance with design specifications and applicable regulations. Perform non-destructive examinations (PT, MT, UT) as part of Mercer's Owner User Program. Collaborate closely with Maintenance Engineers and Project Managers, as well as the Maintenance and Operations teams, to ensure regulatory compliance and effective execution of shutdowns and production targets. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, providing relevant risk management insights. Undertake additional duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline is preferred (Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, First Class Power Engineer's Certificate, Diploma or certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a Second Class Power Engineer's Certificate of Competency), or a minimum of 5+ years of experience as an Asset Integrity Inspector is preferred. The ideal candidate should possess valid and current certification for at least one of the following: In-Service Pressure Equipment Inspector Certificate of Competency; API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification; API 570 Piping Inspector Certification; CGSB Certification for Non-Destructive Testing, including MT, PT, UT certification. Strong understanding of ABSA, Alberta Safety Codes Act, and Pressure Equipment Regulation. Experience in conducting integrity assessment inspections, quality control inspections, witnessing tests, and completing documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with all levels of management and staff with professionalism and tact. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies. Experience working with CGSB or ASNT, CWB, API standards. Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Google G-Suite and Microsoft Word, Excel. Familiarity with process operation static equipment – boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, process piping, and their maintenance requirements. The following certifications are considered assets, but the successful candidate will be required to obtain some or all of the following: API 653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector; API 580 Risk-Based Inspection; National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors – In-Service Commissioned Inspector.
